1 Thessalonians 4:14 – For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. I once observed a colony of ants busy in their routines. They walked up and down the bark of a tree. Ants going in and out of holes dug into the stem of the tree and each going to ‘God knows where’. A small network of paths was already evident suggesting that this tree has been their home for maybe years now. They not only walked on the bark of the tree but that they literally lived inside the tree. I imagined that probably in years to come the stem of this tree would be very weak to even support itself because of the changes made by the ants on the tree. The changes are good for the ants but on the other hand; tragic for the well-being of the tree (That gives a somewhat vague picture of our earth and humans in it). God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son… Hebrews 1:1-2. This verse has many times brought me close to tears; not tears of sorrow, not tears of pain but tears of awe and wonder. I am, most assuredly, not an advocate of baseless feelings. Therefore, the base for such emotions is the relentless mercy of God towards miserable, self- deceived and puffed up humans. Humans that find any reason to oppose him. In order to see this clearly, let us start from the beginning, shall we? Adam was given a rule at the Garden of Eden not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of the good and evil. The rule followed with a consequence that they “shall SURELY die” (Genesis 1:17). He eventually ate the fruit that he was forbidden. I just thought of sharing this. During a service while we sang the Donnie Mcclurkin song..... Born Born Born again I am glad I am born again...with a reggae beat, Questions kept popping up in my head as we sang and as the lyrics went by. For instance, when we sang ' I have got my mind made up and I won't turn back because I want to see my Jesus some day' the questions posed were; Have I/we really made up my/our mind?
